Umpire

Alas, Umpire Fine Furishings is reborn! Umpire started as a small shop selling my first "fine" furniture set "Sasha". Since then, I have created several more original pieces to add to the collection which compliment even those with picky taste.

I am especially fond of the scripted beds which you can make up, and mess up by touch ("Peppermint", and "The Virgin"). "The Virgin" bed also features virgin blood which can be cleaned up after your marriage is consummated (by request). Each bedroom set features matching furniture succh as bedside tables, armoires, and benches.

Be sure to visit the lighting section for touch lighting exquisitely modeled after real life ceiling lamps! A real treat to light up your sophisticated space.

Another cancer check (Oh noes)

As a 2 time cancer survivor, I have to go under the microscope eery 2 years. I hate it! It makes me feel really scared. I had thyroid cancer when I was much younger. They removed my thyrooid and when I had another check years later, it showed up again (they say it was residual).

Anyone facing this type of cancer I would have to say to be strong and not to loose sight of the light past the tunnel. If you allow the cancer to take over your life, it will devour you mentally. Sometimes, when you think you are going to die...that thought is hard to get rid of. It stays with you for years. I tell anyone who I encounter who has any tyoe of cancer to do what it takes to "not feel that way". Sometimes its' a hard thought to get rid of. It took me years.

Now, I will go to my check and understand what I need to focus on to get through it. I have been in remittance for 5 years now and hope to stay that way. I'll keep you posted!

No Rules = True Colors

With th Official SL Forums closing, residents have branched out into other forums (some new, some have ben around for a while). On the SL foums, we were held accountable for our actions when violating the community standards or the TOS. These rules were put in place to protect everyone and to ensure that everyone was able to share, discuss, and be heard safely.
Most of the new forums do not have a code of conduct anywhere similar to that of SL if at all. Memebrs of these 3rd party forums may be unverified and post as many alternate accounts. Many do not even require that you be a memebr of Second Life to sign up. With no rules and no accountability we are seeing the true colors of some residents. Residents who never wanted to live by the SL TOS or CS to begin with and have the opportunity to call names, harass others, post altered private chat logs, and other unprofessional childish acts.
Watch closely on these forums which members engage in this childish behavior and which ones follow and jump on the band wagon. Are they bored? Do they have any decency to speak of? Are they just unable to be civil?
Whatever the case is, I will not be posting on any 3rd party forums to engage in any discussions whatsoever except for those that provide some protection from harrassment. These people who are starting these new 3rd party forums should think long and hard about what it is that they are trying to accomplish. It's easy for anyone to tell lies and be rude. But the real challenge I suppose is to continue observing the rules and conduct guidelines that we are all accustomed to following on the SL forums. That is the challenge that no 3rd party forum admistrator is willing to accept.

My Response to all the Mean, Nasty Threads

There have been numerous threads started about little old me in recent days. I do not know why the individual(s) have chosen me as a target of their childish behavior. I do know that it takes a lot of energy and hatred for someone to be so persistenlty mean to someone they do not even know. I have done nothing wrong to any of these people. I imagine that they are alts of a person who I have a dispute with in SL. Their knowledge of the situation goes far beyond what I have been willing to share so the fact that they know so much tells me that they either (1) have too much time on thir hands, or (2) are an alternate account for the person who continues harassing me online and offline.
Nonetheless, I must say that the attention is quite heart warming. I just hope that anyone who reads the posts realizes that I am not involved in these conversations and have been wrongly labeled "a drama queen". I know that I have reacted to others offensive actions towards myself in the past...something we can all be guilty of from time to time. But this war that this person has started against me is a one-sided converstation with her alt accounts and the cult-like followers that choose to post in her defense...I have no intention of lowering myself to her level and engaging in any arguments.
After all, words are just words and unless they are coming from someone who knows me and cares about me...they mean nothing. Perhaps this person is insecure in their ability to do something productive, useful, or of benefit to the community and compensates for it by targeting me to get attention for themselves.

Building New Paris

I have always loved and admired Paris, France. I'll visit there someday as soon as planes don't have to fly! I have been planning New Paris since February. I started to make a "recreation" of the City of Light, however the detail required to do it any justice would have devoured more time than I had to devote to the project.

So instead, I put a unique spin on Paris by usind my original textures and ideas to produce something unique and pleasing to the eye. I wanted a place for SL residents to be able to live, work and play. Already the condos have filled up and inquiries come in daily. Club Moulin is gorgeous, but is rarely used which may lead me to reconstruct that space and add more residential opportunitues.

Overall, managing New Paris has not been as diificult as I feared. At first, I did not set the land to group and had no auto-return on so griefers would leave their junk laying around causing uneccesary lag. Once I set the land to group and used the auto return feature things became much easier. A few residents didn't get any of the three messages I sent to set their items to group and wound up having their items returned though. I didn't want that to happen, but after a week of sending messages and no reponse what was I to do? It's funny how they responded immediatley after their things got returned though :)

New Paris may include future developments and improvements. I enjoy working on the sim and I hope most who visit there also find it a nice place.
